Dirty Thoughts | The Fragrance Loophole
Have you ever heard of "The Fragrance Loophole?”
Basically, the fragrance industry (yes, it is an industry) is unregulated and this loophole allows companies to use toxic ingredients without being required to list them out individually. This is due to a trade secret exemption from the late 60's. There are known carcinogenic substances used in many, many every day common household products that are stocked heavily on the shelves of regularly visited stores that even Nicole and I frequent. If it smells fake, it probably is fake. Just reading the ingredients isn’t enough in this day and age, when up to 3000 different substances can fall under the umbrella of something listed as a fragrance. It is up to us to take care of ourselves, and it is not safe to assume that just because a product is sold to us that it is a safe and healthy choice.
We fully understand that transparency is absolutely crucial when taking steps towards a healthier and cleaner lifestyle which is why we only carry brands that are committed to our health, well-being, and the health of the planet. In lieu of harmful fragrance ingredients such as phthalates or petrol derivatives, you'll discover lustrous scents and healing compounds from natural essential oils, concretes, absolutes, and dried plant matter. 🍂 Being a label reader and knowing what is listed on the label of all products is a responsibility we do not avoid, and we do it with everything we sell at the shop - we do the work so you don’t have to, and we love it.
